MEXICO CITY: Mexico's Economy Minister Graciela Marquez said on Wednesday she had spoken to US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross by telephone about progress toward an agreement that would suspend tariffs on Mexican tomatoes.
"The dialogue remains open and there is a willingness to come to a mutually beneficial agreement," Marquez added in a post on her Twitter account, without giving more details.
In early May, the Trump administration imposed a 17.5pc tariff on Mexican tomatoes after the two countries were unable to renew a 2013 agreement that suspended a US anti-dumping investigation.
