US president presents ‘great athlete’ PM Imran Khan with cricket bat
United States President Donald Trump presented a cricket bat to Prime Minister Imran Khan along with a picture of President Eisenhower, who is the only US President who witnessed Test Match in Pakistan.
The PM, who is also Pakistan cricket's former World Cup winning captain and is hailed among the greats of the game, is on his first state visit to the US as the prime minister of Pakistan where he met with US president at the White House.
“It’s my great honour to have the very popular and by the way great athlete, one of the greatest and popular Prime Minister of Pakistan,” said Trump while introducing PM Imran Khan to the media. During their meeting, the two discussed various issues related to US war in Afghanistan, the question of Kashmir, trade and aid.
Prior to his meeting with Trump, the PM addressed a packed house of overseas Pakistanis at Washington, United States, where he announced that he will ‘fix Pakistan cricket.’ “I have decided to fix Pakistan cricket after the World Cup, as there have been enough disappointments but mark my words the team you would see in the upcoming World Cup would be a better and professional side, we will improve the system so that the best talent of Pakistan comes ahead,” said the former World Cup winning captain of Pakistan.
