DG ISPR dismisses Hasil Bizenjo’s ‘unfounded’ remarks about ISI chief

Director General Inter-Services Public Relation (DG ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor has dismissed Senator Hasil Bizenjo's remarks terming them 'unfounded', after the senator alleged that Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Chief Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed's 'people' were behind failure to remove Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani.

After the opposition failed on Thursday to pass the no-confidence motion against Sanjrani as the opposition fell short of three votes to unseat Senate chairman, Bizenjo said, "These are General Faiz's people. You know General Faiz, the ISI chief, [they] were his people".

Following Bizenjo's accusations, the DG ISPR took to the official Twitter handle and wrote that the remarks made by the senator implying the head of national premier institution are 'unfounded'. "The tendency to bring entire democratic process into disrepute for petty political gains doesn’t serve democracy," the DG ISPR added.

On Thursday, the opposition, which had the favour of 64 votes of the no-confidence motion, only got 50 votes and failed to remove Sanjrani. The total votes required to unseat the Senate chairman were 53. This implicated that 14 voters from the opposition had possibly defended Sanjrani.
