ROME: Italian retail sales rose 1.9% in June from the month before, the largest increase since January 2017, national statistics bureau ISTAT reported on Friday, following a 0.6% decrease in May.
ISTAT revised up May's data from an originally reported 0.7% fall.
Sales rose 1.3% in unadjusted year-on-year terms in June, ISTAT said, following a 1.8% decline the previous month.
The data are expressed in value terms and are not adjusted for consumer prices, which decreased 0.8% in June from the year earlier, based on Italy's EU-harmonised index (HICP).
