The United States government has distanced its self from India’s Article 370 move that revoked occupied Kashmir’s special status.

In a tweet the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) wrote: “Contrary to press reporting, the Indian government did not consult or inform the US Government before moving to revoke Jammu and Kashmir’s special constitutional status. – AGW”

It is worth to mention here that, India scrapped a law that grants special status to Indian-administered Kashmir amid an indefinite lockdown and massive troop deployment in the disputed region.

The government, led by the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), also moved a bill proposing the Jammu and Kashmir state be divided into two "union territories" directly ruled by New Delhi.
