Australian shares are set to open lower on Wednesday as fears of a global deceleration is expected to weigh on investors despite recent signs of economic stimulus from major economies.
The local share price index futures fell 0.7pc, a 91-point discount to the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index close. The benchmark rose 1.2pc on Tuesday.
New Zealand's benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index fell 1.4pc to 10,651.07 in early trade.
