Despite not being able to cement his position in the national team, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan remained the fittest player of the squad in recent fitness test.

The wicketkeeper topped the fitness test called the Yo-yo test conducted during the pre-season camp at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore. As per reports, Rizwan scored 19.2 points, top order batsman Shan Masood and middle order batsman Asad Shafiq were close second with 19.1 points each.

Rizwan was also the fittest player during the fitness test that was held for 23 players ahead of the announcement of Pakistan’s World Cup squad as he scored 20 points. However, despite displaying excellent fitness levels the wicketkeeper batsman failed to make into the tournament.

After two days of fitness testing, which is being held on August 20 and 21, the 17-day conditioning camp will begin on August 22 and run until September 7. Former captain Misbah-ul-Haq will command the NCA camp and with the support of the NCA coaching staff, he will craft the training programme and overlook of the camp until the recruitment process has concluded.

The players will undergo fielding drills and net sessions, along with fitness and other cricketing activities during the camp. The PCB’s camp has been set up to prepare the players for the upcoming domestic and international cricket season.

Players attending camp:

Sarfraz Ahmed, Yasir Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Asad Shafiq, Haris Sohail, Shaan Masood, Muhammad Rizwan, Usman Shinwari, Fakhar Zaman, Imam ul Haq, Wahab Riaz, Abid Ali, Rahat Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Zafar Gohar, Bilal Asif, Asif Ali and Mir Hamza
