Asif Ali Zardari shifted to PIMS from Adiala jail
Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari was shifted on Thursday to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) from Adiala jail.
Zardari has been shifted to PIMS after a medical board conducted his checkup and recommended that he be shifted to the hospital. His room at the Cardiac Centre in the hospital will be declared as sub-jail, local media reported.
Earlier in a tweet, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto had condemned the government for not allowing his father to be shifted to a hospital. "Government doctors advised he be taken to hospital but govt is refusing. We are going to court. If anything happens to him govt will be responsible," he added.
The former president has been incarcerated in Adiala jail since August 16 after an accountability court changed his physical remand to judicial remand in the money laundering through fake accounts case. On June 10, a National Accountability Bureau team arrested Zardari after the Islamabad High Court rejected petition seeking extension in his pre-arrest bail. The PPP leader was again arrested in the Park Lane case.
