Cheema emerges as strong candidate for Pakistan team manager post
Former national cricket team manager Naveed Akram Cheema is once again being billed as the next manager of the Men in Green.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is searching for a new national team management, after the board sacked former head coach Mickey Arthur alongside the rest of the coaching staff.
As per reports, the name of former Test cricketer Mohsin Hassan Khan is also coming up for the post of manager, however, Cheema remains a favorite among PCB officials for the post. Cheema has served as manager of the national cricket team in the past as well, and is known for his uncompromising disciplinarian nature.
Meanwhile, last week the PCB’s five member panel conducted interviews for the position of national team head coach and bowling coach.
Former Pakistan captain Misbah -ul-Haq, former Australian cricketer Dean Jones and West Indies bowling legend Courtney Walsh are reportedly among the contenders running for the head coach position. Whereas, former Pakistan fast bowler Waqar Younis, Mohammad Akram and ex- all-rounder Yasir Arafat are running for the bowling coach job.
