With the appointment of national side coaching staff in full swing, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to officially announce former Pakistan captain Misbah ul Haq as the next head coach.

Misbah-ul-Haq has emerged as the strongest contender for the head coach job, after Mickey Arthur alongside the rest of coaching staff were sacked after Pakistan's unsuccessful campaign at the recently concluded ICC World Cup 2019.

As per reports, the PCB’s five member panel conducted interviews of Misbah, Mohsin Khan, Australia’s Dean Jones and South African Johan Botha for the head coach position. Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain and head coach Waqar Younis has emerged as the top contender for the bowling coach gig.

The board is also considering giving additional responsibilities of chief selector to Misbah.

Earlier, it was learnt that ex-national cricket team manager Naveed Akram Cheema is once again being billed as the next manager of the Men in Green. Cheema, who has served as manager of the national cricket team in the past, is favored by the PCB officials for the post. Cheema is known for his uncompromising disciplinarian nature.
