Christian Bale, Kristen Stewart endorse Robert Pattinson as new ‘Batman’
Christian Bale, who has earlier played Batman in ‘The Dark Knight’, has reacted to casting of Robert Pattinson as the new cape crusader. He said he is an interesting choice to play the popular DC character.
Speaking to Variety, the Oscar winner had a brief but enthusiastic response when asked to weigh in on Pattinson taking over the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman on the big screen. “Good choice!” Bale said. “He’s interesting.”
Bale also give a small advice to Pattinson saying that he shouldn’t listen to critics and ‘make it [the role] his own’. “Don't listen to the naysayers. Think about it: Everybody protested when Heath [Ledger] was cast as the Joker, and look at what an absolutely brilliant performance he gave. Don't listen to those guys. Do his own thing. He's a fascinating actor. He's a great choice,” he said.
His ‘Ford v. Ferrari’ co-star, Matt Damon also agreed to his opinion.
Apart from Bale, Pattinson's old love interest Kristen Stewart also said that he is the only actor who can pull off this iconic role. “I feel like he’s the only guy that could play that part,” Stewart told Variety at the Toronto International Film Festival. “I’m so happy for him. It’s crazy. I’m very, very happy about that. I heard that and I was like, ‘Oh man!’ It’s awesome.”
Pattinson was recently announced as Ben Affleck’s replacement as Batman. He will debut in a new film from director Matt Reeves, which is reportedly a more toned-down story that features a young Bruce Wayne.
