Court to indict Zardari, Talpur on October 4
- Zardari was arrested on June 10 in the money laundering through fake accounts case.
- "Government may arrest everyone including Murad Ali Shah and fulfil its wishes," Zardari said.
- Counsel complained to court that instead of a fridge, his client was given bags of ice.
An accountability court set on Thursday October 4 as the date to indict former president Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur in the money laundering cases.
During the hearing today, the former president was presented before Judge Mohammad Bashir. The judge asked whether Zardari had received copies of the case. The former president replied that they have not seen the copies yet, local media reported. The court issued Zardari, Talpur and other suspects in the case copies of the reference.
Counsel of Zardari, Farooq H Naek told the court that no air conditioner or fridge has been installed in his client’s cell. He complained that despite order, his client was given bags containing ice.
Speaking to the media outside the court, the PPP leader said the government can arrest whoever they want. "Government may arrest everyone including Murad Ali Shah and fulfil its wishes. We do not need production orders," he added.
On June 10, a National Accountability Bureau team arrested Zardari after the Islamabad High Court rejected petition seeking extension in his pre-arrest bail. The PPP leader was again arrested in the Park Lane case.
