- Mansha is among those actresses who tries to break the stereotype of weak women through her dramas and film.
- Her film 'Laal Kabootar' has been selected for Oscars' nomination.
Pakistani critically acclaimed actress Mansha Pasha in a candid interview with a local magazine has talked about her film ‘Laal Kabootar’ being sent for Oscars nominations and also how Bollywood film industry has been maligning image of Pakistan and Muslims.
While talking to Masala magazine, the actress has revealed a lot about high and lows of her career and controversies.
While asked about Bollywood film industry and Priyanka Chopra’s hypocrisy at different occasions, Mansha said that Bollywood has now become politicized and they have been making films against Muslims and Pakistan from the last few years.
“I think we all agree that the role of art and culture in films should be to promote harmony among people. Bollywood has now become politicized. In the last year, many films either showed Muslims or Pakistan in a negative light. We saw what happened to Fawad and Mahira Khan. They were not able to promote even their own films. It started on that side. We can’t expect things to happen and no one reacting. In a country of billion people, you can’t keep promoting this narrative; dehumanizing all people from Pakistan in particular and Muslims in general,” she said.
While talking about her film being sent for Oscars, she said, “When I saw the film myself at the premiere, it had all the ingredients necessary for a good film. Great storyline, shot really well, the whole thing came together. It was a great film. I am very critical of my work. When I saw, I thought it was a great contender [for Oscars]. Obviously, I did not know that it will be selected. I knew it had a very good chance. Now that it has been selected I am very happy”.
In recent past, Mansha has been criticized by many for lack of acting skills, but the actress has given a perfect reply to all with her powerful performance in ‘Laal Kabootar’.
