etihad-schoolLAHORE: Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, sponsored the children’s carnival at the Deaf Reach School and Training Centre in Karachi as part of the airline's corporate social responsibility program in Pakistan.

The carnival, which includes activities such as magic shows, face painting, bowling, and competitions, offered a break from the formal classroom training and gave the children the opportunity to play and have fun.

Amer Khan, Etihad Airway’s Area General Manager for Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Maldives, said: “These initiatives are an important part of our corporate social responsibility program which supports humanitarian causes around the globe through economic and individual empowerment.

“I am delighted to once again support this initiative in its effort to integrate children with hearing disabilities into society.”

Richard Geary, Executive Director of the Deaf Reach School and Training Centre, said: " We are honoured that the world's leading airline is taking a genuine interest in improving the lives of children with disabilities in Pakistan. We look forward to this collaboration flourishing as we work together to empower these young children and further involve them in society.”

The Deaf Reach School and Training Centre is part of the Family Educational Services Foundation (FESF). The foundation seeks to empower children, teenagers and young adults with hearing disabilities in urban and rural areas by teaching them vocational skills designed to help them become self-sufficient and meet their specific academic and vocational needs.

Etihad Airways has supported the Deaf Reach School and Training Centre for the past three years. Last year the airline sponsored the center’s art contest with the aim of encouraging the children to express themselves through painting and drawing.
