Social media lambaste comeback duo Shehzad and Akmal
- Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal fail to justify their selection in the series.
- Akmal yet to score a run in the series after back to back golden ducks.
Pakistani cricket fans aren't in the best of their moods and are rightly so after the national side suffered a 2-0 series defeat against Sri Lanka.
Slamming the cricket team's appalling show during the ongoing T20 series, fans vent their anger on social media, especially on the returning duo of Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal that failed to justify their selection during the two matches.
Akmal has yet to score a run in the series, after the batsman suffered back to back golden ducks in the two matches, and now sits alongside Sri Lanka’s former batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan with 10 duck in T20I - the most by any player.
Shehzad too, despite not getting out on naughts, failed to impress with figures of 13 and 4 during the series.
We will always wonder what Misbah was thinking when he recalled Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad to the squad but I do buy into the theory that this was a masterstroke to never be bothered with them again ... #PakvsSL

If Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal can make a comeback in the team then why not Fawad Alam? https://t.co/mdmYOgrDWP

At least Umar Akmal has lower dot ball percentage than Ahmed Shehzad and even Babar Azam. #PAKvSL

It should be end of Ahmed Shehzad, Umar Akmal (forever), Asif Ali & Faheem Ashraf.
Better to give proper chance to Haris Sohail and Iftikhar Ahmed, bring back Shoaib Malik (& Hafeez, if required) and some youngsters (Haider Ali, Rohail Nazir, Amir Yamin & Zafar Gohar). #Cricket

Are we running out on players that we have to bring these 2 players in the team. Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal are a liability on the team. This is not the time to experiment with old players, this is the time to experiment the new players in the team. Make them both sit.

The defeat in T20 series is not good for Pakistan in several ways, as not only it soured the homecoming of international cricket, the side also lost in a format dominated by Pakistan for the past three years and that too against the inexperienced Sri Lankan side, after some 10 players of their regular squad refused to tour Pakistan.
The timing of this defeat is crucial as well as it exposes our vulnerabilities in all departments of the game exactly a year before the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup.
