The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear a writ petition against Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) 'Azadi March' today (Wednesday). According to IHC cause list, Chief Justice Athar Minullah will hear admissibility of the plea, for which the court has issued notice to petitioner Hafiz Ahtesham. The petitioner, who is a resident of Islamabad, said that the IHC had fixed a place for protests and sit-ins in the federal capital.

The petitioner challenged JUI-F's Azadi March and expected sit-in against the government on Monday last in the Islamabad High Court (IHC). In his petition, he prayed the court that protesters should be limited to the allocated place as it could affect the routine life of the local residents of the federal capital.

The petitioner had nominated the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Education, PEMRA, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration and JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman as respondents in the case. The JUI-F leader has announced to start Azadi march against the government on October 27 that will culminate in the capital, where the party is likely to hold a sit-in.

The JUI-F chief said, "Our strategy will not remain stagnant. We will keep changing it to cope with [any] situation," he said. He insisted that a "flood of people from all over the country" is coming to join the march and the "fake rulers will drown in it like a straw." When asked whether he has been able to garner the support of other opposition parties, he said that he "hopes to see them" in the march. He added that since all opposition parties agreed that last year's general elections were "fake" and that a reelection should be held, they should all be "on the same page and same stage."

Major opposition political parties Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People Party have also indicated they might join the Azadi March led by JUI-F chief Mualana Fazal Rehman. Meanwhile, the meeting of the Rehabar Committee of all the opposition parties in the Parliament was held on Tuesday at the residence of its Convener Akram Khan Durrani, wherein all the participants have ensured their participation in the upcoming Azadi March. Durrani demanded the government to resign and hold fresh elections.
