Absence of top bureaucrats: NA body adjourns meeting in protest
The National Assembly Standing Committee on Defence adjourned its meeting as a protest over absence of top bureaucrats from the Ministry of Interior, National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The committee met under the chairmanship of MNA Amjad Ali Khan, wherein secretary interior, director general NACTA, director general FIA and others had been invited to brief on issues related to cyber crimes, but none of these bureaucrats turned up to the meeting. The committee taking notice of the non-attendance of the officers adjourned the meeting as a protest and decided to raise the matter before the Privilege Committee of the National Assembly.
The meeting was attended by the MNAs including Syed Faiz Ul Hassan, Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Tahir Sadiq, Riaz-ul-Haq, Jamil Ahmed Khan, Syed Aminul Haq, Rubina Irfan, Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir, Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Aftab Shaban Mirani. The meeting was also attended by the officials of the concerned ministries / departments.
