  • 301 candidates have been nominated, which is fourth highest number of candidates ever.
  • Teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg is the favorite candidate.

The winner for 100th Nobel Peace Prize will be announced today (Friday) from among a total of 301 nominees, which is the fourth highest number of nominees ever.

Although the Nobel Committee does not announce the names of the nominees, it has announced that this year's list has 301 candidates, of which 223 are individuals and 78 are organizations. Neither the names of nominators nor of nominees for the Nobel Peace Prize will not be revealed for next 50 years.

Teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg is among the nominees for this year's Nobel Peace Prize and also the favourite considered by bookmakers. Other names in the running for the prize include Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern and Brazilian leader Raoni Metuktire, BBC reported.

According to reports, Ethiopian PM, who brought an end to his country's conflict with Eritrea, is the second most likely candidate to win.

The Nobel Committee has already announced the Nobel prize for medicine, Physics, chemistry and literature. Sir Peter Ratcliffe, William Kaelin and Gregg Semenza were awarded in medicine while James Peebles, Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz were awarded the Nobel Physics Prize.

The Nobel Chemistry was awarded to John B Goodenough, M Stanley Whittingham and Akira Yoshino and literature prize was awarded to Peter Handke.
