Bail in money laundering case: SHC issues notice to NAB in petition filed by Iqbal Z Ahmed
Sindh High Court (SHC) Friday issued notice to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a petition filed by businessman Iqbal Z Ahmed for securing bail in money laundering case. Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan filed the bail plea on behalf of Iqbal Z Ahmed, who was arrested by the NAB in a money laundering case. The counsel submitted guidelines issued by Chairman NAB that anti-graft body would not take action against businessmen.
NAB prosecutor informed the court that Iqbal Z Ahmed was arrested on charges of money laundering when the court inquired about the charges against him.
Iqbal Z Ahmed's counsel contended that his client should be granted bail after the guidelines of chairman NAB. He said that his client has been locked up despite being an aged and ailing person. The court ordered medical checkup of the accused and directed the NAB to take time from the doctor for this medical checkup.
The NAB prosecutor submitted that the accused wants to get his medical checkup from a doctor, whose availability is difficult to secure. He said that the NAB has its own panel of doctors for the medical checkup of any accused. The NAB prosecutor also told the court that the accused has been provided a comfortable bed in custody.
