Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Dr Syed Kalim Iman has ordered police to ensure foolproof security arrangements on the occasion of Chehlum-e-Imam Hussain (AS) across the province including Karachi.
While giving directives to the concerned Deputy Inspector Generals of Police (DIGs), the provincial police chief said that extra ordinary security arrangements should be ensured at every district level with implementing the contingency plan, in letter and spirit, said a statement, released from the director press Sindh police office, here on Sunday.
IGP also asked his subordinates to have close coordination with other law enforcement agencies including the paramilitary rangers (Sindh) to organise the Chehlum procession in peaceful environment.
There must be strict security arrangements on routes of Alam processions, Majalis venues, Imambarghas, industrial zones, commercial markets and other public places to avoid any outward incident.
IG also directed the police to start random snap checking on police stations level across the province particularly in Karachi on a daily basis. He also asked to ensure intelligence sharing against the suspected activities of terrorists and violent elements so that they can be arrested red-handed.
Besides intensifying the motorcycle patrolling, and picketing on both exit and entry points of the procession routes, IGP said the holy places of minority community should also be protected particularly on the occasion of the religious event.
