Employees of NA Secretariat: NA body irked over delay in delivery of plots' possession

The National Assembly Standing Committee on House and Library expressed its concerns over inordinate delay in handing over the possession of plots to the employees of National Assembly Secretariat by the management of Federal Government Employees Cooperative Housing Society (FGECHS). The committee termed it a breach of contractual obligation of joint venture by the management of the society. The committee met with MNA Kishwer Zehra in the chair.

Discussing the issue of delay in handing over the possession of plots, the committee was of the view that despite deposit of money with the FGECHS in year 2014, the developed plots are nor handed over to allottees. The committee directed the FGECHS president to immediately honor the contractual obligation.

The FGECHS president apprised the committee that present management of the society would fully abide by its contractual obligations after the approval of the layout plan by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and handing over of land of National Assembly Employees Cooperative Housing Society (NAECHS) to the FGECHS.

He informed the committee that the society had been subjected to mismanagement and malpractices by the previous management of the FGECHS; therefore, the plots could not be handed over so far. He further informed the committee that the previous management is being investigated by National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

The NAECHS president apprised the committee that 376 developed plots out of 1,097 plots have been handed over to the members of NAECHS, whereas further 100 plots have been agreed to be allotted subject to approval of the layout plan by the CDA. He further informed that the process of demarcation of land of NAECHS is in process and the same would be handed over to the FGEHS management for further action.

While discussing the matters pertaining to the cleanliness of the Parliament Lodges, the committee lamented the lethargy of janitorial staff and directed for ensuring the cleanliness of the premises. The committee directed the CDA to ensure timely payment of wages to the janitorial staff. The committee also directed to ensure that lifts in the lodges are in proper working condition and quality food is prepared in the cafeteria in accordance with the prescribed health standards.
