The Karachi Port handled 185,057 tonnes of cargo comprising 130,368 tonnes of import cargo and 54,689 tonnes of export cargo including 1,985 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargos of 130,368 tonnes comprised of 48,260 tonnes of containerised cargo; 830 tonnes of bulk cargo; 35,265 tonnes of DPA; 12,185 tonnes of yellow peas; 1,600 tonnes of canola and 32,228 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 54,689 tonnes comprised of 38,826 tonnes of containerised cargo and 15,863 tonnes of clinkers. As many as 1,985 containers comprising of 792 containers import and 1,193 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. The breakup of imported containers shows 156 of 20's and 175 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 143 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 418 of 20's and 326 of 40's loaded containers while 33 of 20's and 45 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eleven ships namely Northern Dexterity, Nordmed, Hyundai Singapore, Al Safa, Sea Ambition, Al Mahboobah, Diavolezza, Clipper Endeavour, Sam Hawk, Marie Grace and Bao Flourish carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, canola, DAP, clinker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. Ever Deluxe, Cape Male, Hyundai Singapore, Victoria, Serene Sky and Heilan Cruiser carrying containers, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 123,504 tonnes comprising 98,140 tonnes of import cargo and 25,364 tonnes of export cargo including 1,989 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 98,140 tonnes includes 38,237 tonnes of coal; 3,000 tonnes of canola; 17,446 tonnes of diesel oil; 7,700 tonnes of palm oil; 17,925 tonnes LNG and 13,832 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 25,364 tonnes includes 1,405 tonnes of general cargo and 23,959 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 1,989 containers comprising of 728 containers import and 1,261 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday. There were four ships namely Normed, Umm Bab, Fotini Lady and NCC Reem carrying containers, LNG diesel oil and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely Han Ren carrying general cargo expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, cement, coal, canola, LNG and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours. As many as seven vessels viz. Cornella-1, HTK Discovery, Ocean Beauty, Tiger Winter, Norstar Integrity, Silver Euplecta and Torm Estrid carrying containers, steel coil, coal, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Cornella-1, HTK Discovery, Silver Euplecta and Torm Estrid carrying containers, steel coil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday. There are two ships namely APL New York and Maersk Pittsburgh carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
