Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures closed higher on Friday along with corn and soyabeans, buoyed by optimism that US-China trade talks would lead to a partial deal involving Chinese purchases of US agricultural goods, traders said.

CBOT December soft red winter wheat settled up 15 cents at $5.08 per bushel after reaching $5.12-3/4, its highest level since July 25. K.C. December hard red winter wheat ended up 16-1/4 cents at $4.19-1/2 a bushel and MGEX December spring wheat rise 12-3/4 cents to finish at $5.48.

President Donald Trump and other US officials signaled good news was coming in trade talks with China, while Beijing indicated it was open to a "partial" deal that would avoid a planned hike in tariffs on its goods.
