The problems for former president Asif Ali Zardari increase as an accused director of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has become an approver in the Park Lane reference filed against him and others.
Hearing the case, Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir informed the officials of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) that accused SECP director Javed Hussain has become an approver in the case and NAB Rawalpindi has sent his case to headquarters.
Earlier, the NAB officials produced the suspect in the court on expiry of his remand term.
The NAB prosecutor requested the Accountability Court to extend physical remand of the accused in order to conduct further investigations from him.
While objecting to the NAB's request, the defence counsel requested the court to reject the NAB's application.
The court after hearing the arguments of both the defence and prosecution sides turned down the NAB's request and sent the accused to jail on judicial remand.
The prosecutor further argued before the court that the accused had been working as registrar ROC Islamabad in 2009 and had received the record of Park Lane Company.
It was in the knowledge of the accused that Zardari owned Park Lane Company, he said, adding that the accused had allegedly hidden information from his subordinates
