- South Punjab register their first victory of the tournament.
Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz has called his South Punjab’s teammate Saif Badar a good prospect for the Pakistan cricket team, after the duo took their side to a convincing victory over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the National T20 Cup.
“He [Saif] is a very good prospect, because of the way he batted and stabilize the inning when we were four wickets out, he played a pretty controlled inning and never looked puzzled, so for me this is a good sign. Saif also won us the game the last year T20 Cup finals, so this is a good sign that a youngster is performing regularly, which is great for Pakistan cricket,” said Wahab during a post match presentation at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.
Saif, the middle order batsman, played an unbeaten knock of 49 runs and alongside Wahab (42*) chased down the 155 runs target, as South Punjab beat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by 4 wickets.
Speaking about his partnership with Saif Badar, the fast bowler further said that his partner played for the team and not looked for reaching milestone for himself.
“I was telling Saif to play till the end and complete his fifty whereas I would take the charge, however he was the one who said we should complete the game in this over, so it is a good sign that the players are not thinking for themselves but for the team, which is a very good sign,” said Wahab.
Wahab’s three for 28 with the ball and an unbeaten 17-ball 42 earned Southern Punjab’s first win in the tournament and also a Man-of-the-Match award for the fast bowler.
