Raja wants Pakistan to get rid of players unwilling to maintain discipline, training
- Raja says Misbah-ul-Haq needs to take strong decisions on fitness issues.
- Players should be dropped from the team if they do not maintain discipline and fitness, says Raja.
Amid reports that some players are unwilling to train, former Pakistan captain-turned cricket commentator Ramiz Raja has urged the cricketing authorities to get rid of players not willing to follow discipline and maintain fitness.
“Pakistan should get rid of those players that have issues following training, the authorities should not even allow such players to play leagues because I believe that we should give points on fitness and discipline… and I believe that those players that do not care about following it should be dropped from the team, as we need to set an example,” said Raja in a video.
The statement comes after reports of Misbah-ul-Haq's dissatisfaction from the lack of professionalism put in training by certain players. As per reports the players have not been training according to the plan devised by the head coach- cum-chief selector and are shying away from following the management's instructions.
The former captain further said that Misbah should improve his management skills, as he needs to make the players understand that the winning mantra is based on fitness. “The problem is Misbah has not undergone the training as a seasoned coach, just like we see in foreign coaches,” he said.
Raja further said that Misbah needs to take a strong decision that no compromise would be made on fitness, secondly Misbah should make the players understand the importance of fitness. The ex-captain also urged the players to focus on fitness, if they aim to win games for Pakistan and become a great player.
