A sizable increase in prices of essential food commodities was witnessed in local market, according to a survey carried out by Business Recorder here on Sunday. The survey noticed upward trend in prices of vegetable, flour, pulses, fruits and other in retail market. Price of tomato has jumped at Rs 80-90 per kilogramme from Rs 50 per kilogramme, the survey noted. It added prices of onion have become costlier in retail market as available at Rs 70 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs 40-50 per kilogramme in the previous week, the survey said.
Likewise, the survey noticed the price of ginger has soared up in local market as available at Rs 450 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs 380-400 per kilogramme in the previous week. Rate of garlic also touched new peak, as the survey witnessed it was available at Rs 300-350 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 250-260 per kilogramme in the previous week.
As per survey, lemon is being sold at Rs 100 per kilogramme. Green Chili was available at Rs 120 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 100 per kilogramme in the previous week. Cucumber is being sold at Rs 70 per kilogramme which was available at Rs 50 per kilogarmme in preceding week, it added.
Prices of other veggies are sky-high in retail market as capsicum is being sold at Rs 200 per kilogarmme, arvi at Rs 120 per kilogarmme, peas at Rs 90-100 per kilogramme, Apple, round and long gourds are being sold within range of Rs 70-80 per kilogramme, the survey noticed. Red-potato is being sold at Rs 70-80 per kilogramme while other was available at Rs 40 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs 30 per kilogramme in the previous week. Bringle was being sold at Rs 50-60 per kilogramme, cabbage at Rs 50 per kilogramme, cauliflower at Rs 70 per kilogramme.
The downward trend in prices of live chicken/meat was witnessed in local market, the survey noticed, it said that the live chicken/meat is being sold at Rs 166 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs 168 per kilogramme in the previous, showing an decrease of Rs 2 per kilogramme. A dozen of farm eggs are being available at Rs 100 120. Cow meat is being sold at Rs 400-450 per kilogrmame while mutton beef priced at Rs 900 per kilogramme.
Fresh milk is being sold at Rs 120-130 per litre against the official fixed price of Rs 90 per litre. Similarly, yogurt was available at Rs 100-120 per kilogramme against the official fixed price of Rs 80 per kilogramme. Gram flour (baisen) is being sold at Rs 140 per kilogram, which was selling at Rs 120 per kg. Similarly, the rate of sugar is still high as available at Rs 76 and 80 per kilogram. A 20-kg flour bag is being sold at Rs 900-960 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs 870 per bag in the previous week.
According to the survey, the prices of pulses/food grains were remained high-side in local market, as no significant change or increase was witnessed in the previous week. Likewise, Good quality rice (sela) is being sold at Rs 160 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs 150 per kilogramme in the last week. Toota rice is being available at Rs 70-80 per kilogramme. Dal mash is being sold at Rs 170-190 against the price of Rs 160 per kilogramme.
Big-size white channa was available at Rs 140 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 130 per kilogramme in the previous week. Similarly, Rs 20 per kilogrmmme surge was noticed in price of red-bean as being sold at Rs 150 per kilogramme against the price of Rs 130 per kilogramme in the last week.
However, price of white lobiya has decreased at Rs 130 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs 140 per kilogramme in the last week. Moonge, is being sold at Rs 150 per kilogramme which was selling at Rs 140 per kilogrmame in the last week, while dal chilka (green) was being sold at Rs 140 and Dal Chilka (Black) being sold at Rs 130 per kilogramme.
