The Karachi Port handled 279,376 tonnes of cargo comprising 196,974 tonnes of import cargo and 82,402 tonnes of export cargo including 2,379 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 196,974 tonnes comprised of 51,496 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,118 tonnes of bulk cargo; 52,709 tonnes of DPA and 88,651 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 82,402 tonnes comprised of 50,676 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,226 tonnes of bulk cargo; 30,500 tonnes of clinker and nil tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 2,379 containers comprising of 903 containers import and 1,476 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 234 of 20's and 197 of 40's loaded while 05 of 20's and 135 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 286 of 20's and 137 of 40's loaded containers while 392 of 20's and 262 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eleven ships namely OOCL Chicago, Kota Cabar, Smiley Lady, Hyundai Long Beach, Northern Dedication, MT Karachi, Liana, Navtig8 Sol, ASL Mercury, Dreem Jasmine and Rudolf carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, clinker, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were ten vessels viz. CSCL Sydney, Diyala, Liana, Stena Premimum, MT Lahore, Regal, Dreem Jasmine, Murou and Rudolf carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 157,386 tonnes comprising 98,771 tonnes of import cargo and 58,615 tonnes of export cargo including 3,530 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 98,771 tonnes includes 67,750 tonnes of coal; 2,700 tonnes of palm oil; 13,988 tonnes of diesel oil; 3,978 tonnes general cargo and 10,355 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 58,615 tonnes includes 58,615 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,630 containers comprising of 545 containers import and 3,085 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were four ships namely GSL Eleni, Smiley Lady, Safmarine Nyssa and Chemroute Brilliant carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely COS Prosperity and Elandra Spruce carrying containers and diesel oil respectively expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coils, general cargo, coal, canola, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eight vessels viz. MSC Maeva, Kaptan Arif Bay Paktar, Vega Taurus, Chemroad Polarus, Tomson Gas, Atlantic Breeze, UACC Shams and Bum Shin carrying containers, coal, chemical, LPG, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were seven ships viz. MSC Pina, MSC Maeva, Vega Taurus, Chemroad Polarus, Tomson Gas, UACC Shams and Bum Shin carrying containers, coal, chemical, LPG, mogas and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Monday.

There was one ship namely MSC Pina carrying containers due to arrive on Monday, while two more ships namely MSC Valencia and Maersk Atlanta carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
