Huawei announces foldable Mate X’s successor
- Huawei Mate X is due to retail in November.
- Mate Xs is initially scheduled to launch in China in March 2020.
- The new foldable smartphone features Huawei’s latest chipset Kirin 990.
Huawei Mate X hasn’t even hit markets yet, the Chinese technological giant has already unveiled its successor during an event in Shenzhen where it announced the Mate 30 5G and Mate 30 Pro 5G for the local market.
The device is named as Mate Xs, which has a major upgrade in the chipset which is Huawei's latest Kirin 990, instead of the 980 which featured in the Mate X.
Apart from the chipset, there is not official update available for Mate Xs specs so we’ll have to wait for more details in the coming months. By judging the rumors we can expect that it could have the same camera setup as Huawei's P30 Pro.
In terms of design, the Mate Xs is quite identical to the Mate X. The device is only set to launch in China at this moment – but it's actually possible it'll launch globally instead of the Mate X.
The Mate Xs release date is March 2020 in China, and it'll likely launch there before anywhere else.
