  • Sikhs visiting the Gurdwara next month will be able to buy the Rs50 coin
  • PM will inaugurate the Kartarpur Corridor on Nov 9, which will provide free visa link between Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur and Dera Baba Nanak shrine in India.

Pakistan has issued a commemorative coin to mark the 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, founder of the Sikh religion.

Sikhs visiting the Gurdwara next month will be able to buy the Rs50 coin. They will also be able to buy postage stamps with an image of the Gurdwara Janam Asthan for Rs8, local media reported. Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan shared the picture of the commemorative coin on his official Facebook account.

Last week, after a round of several talks for the past eight months, Pakistan and India signed an agreement on the Kartarpur Corridor. The PM will inaugurate the corridor on November 9, after which the corridor will facilitate the Sikh community to visit their most revered place in Pakistan.

Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistan announced that it would issue additional visas to Indian Sikh pilgrims above the 3,000 limit allowed under the bilateral protocol for their visit from November 5 to 14.

The statement by the Pakistan High Commission to India said that Pakistan facilitated visits of Sikh not only from India but across the globe. On Monday, the PM also laid the foundation stone of Baba Guru Nanak University in Nankana Sahib.
