Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has been discharged from the Services Hospital where he was under treatment for the last two weeks.

A discharge slip was issued with the consent of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif who also visited the hospital. After being discharged, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and Nawaz's daughter Maryam were also present in the hospital. Doctors from the Sharif Medical City also arrived at Services Hospital.

On the other hand, the platelets count of the former PM are said to declined to around 32,000 and medical board at Services Hospital suggested to carry out genetic test of ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif to diagnose his illness.

Nawaz Sharif, who is under-treatment here at Services Hospital for the last 14 days, had undergone different medical tests while the doctors found his blood sugar level on higher side despite intake of insulin.

Sources claimed that Nawaz Sharif's genetic test can be performed abroad. However, Lahore's Children Hospital officially sends samples to Germany for genetic test twice a year.

On Tuesday, the medical board taking care of the former premier's health had examined him and conducted further tests including the complete blood count (CBC).

Doctors allow Nawaz to walk and exercise for a limited time.

The sources claimed that Nawaz and Mahmood Ayaz, the head of the medical board which was formed to look after the former prime minister's medical treatment, spoke to each other.

"When I want to leave, I'll let you know," Nawaz reportedly told Ayaz.

Nawaz Sharif needs to go abroad for treatment, head of medical panel Professor Mehmood Ayaz, who heads the panel of doctors overseeing the treatment of the former prime minister, said, the sources added.

"Health department should talk to us," he said, adding the medical board would give in writing that he should undergo genetic test from abroad. Ayaz added the foreign visit would become essential if doctors want to examine his body tissues in order to diagnose the exact cause of his illness.
