Lambasting the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for bypassing the Parliament and relying on presidential ordinances for legislation, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sirajul Haq on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is behaving like a civilian dictator.
Talking to media persons here, Haq said, "The rulers have ignored the Parliament and the country is rapidly drifting towards a civilian dictatorship." He said the PTI government is walking in a closed street and is caught in its own trap due to provocative statements by the PM himself and his team members.
Reminding the PM of his words about providing container and food to participants of the opposition protestors, Haq said Imran Khan should not make delay in fulfilling the promise he made during the first speech in the National Assembly.
He said the government has lost its importance and seems puzzled due to the protest. The rulers, he added, could not resolve the ongoing political crisis in the federal capital. He said the government seems losing its grounds as people are showing desperation against its wrong and directionless policies in every nook and corner of the country.
While further criticizing the government, Haq said that the statements being made by the ministers are putting fuel on fire and are evident of the fact that ruling party is itself not interested in resolving the political crisis. He advised the government side to avoid making aggressive remarks and must listen to the opposition's demands. He said the JI is always in favor of dialogue to resolve the issues between the government and opposition parties.
Haq while coming down hard on government's Kashmir policy said that the government is responsible for putting the Kashmir issue on backburner. He said the people of Indian-held Kashmir have been under siege for 94 days and in addition to it New Delhi made another move and included the AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan in its map.
Haq said that on one side entire Pakistan is concerned about the people of Kashmir and on the other side Pakistani government is at loggerhead with opposition parties. He maintained that the people of Pakistan will continue to support the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir as they are struggling for their right to self-determination.
The JI's emir said 900,000 soldiers of the Indian army have been deployed in the valley to suppress Kashmiris through atrocious actions.
"Kashmiris since inception of Pakistan have been considering themselves as a part of Pakistan for which Kashmiris rendered countless sacrifices, therefore it is need of the hour for Pakistani government to immediately resolve local issues and put energies for freeing Kashmir from Indian occupation," he said.
The JI chief said it was high time that the government should announce policies in right direction, giving relief to the common man from inflation and unemployment.
