Out of form Fakhar, Asif may miss third T20I against Australia

  • Australia are 1-0 up in the three-match series.
  • Series decider will be played on November 8 at Perth.

It looks like Pakistan are all set to utilise all the cards in the third T20I against Australia after suffering a crushing seven-wicket defeat at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.

Thanks to Steven Smith’s classical innings, Australia went 1-0 up in the three match series, doubting the selection of struggling opener Fakhar Zaman and middle order batsman Asif Ali further in series.

As Cricket Pakistan reported, the team management has begun the process of analysing the shortcomings of the side and is likely to make two changes for the final showdown against Australia at Perth.

Two names, opener Imam ul Haq and hard-hitting batsman Khushdil Shah, are in consideration to replace the out of form duo (Fakhar and Asif). Final decision on the team’s line-up is expected to be made after the practice session on Thursday.

Fakhar has been struggling for form in last 12 T20I outing. He only managed to score 110 runs at a miserable average of nine runs, whereas, Asif accumulated just 331 runs at an average of 18 in 25 T20Is.

The visitors will now have one last chance to level the three-match series.
