Over 62,000 police officials including 404 gazetted officers, 923 inspectors, 2,734 sub-inspectors, 5,058 ASIs, 4,081 head constables, 40451 constables, 7,953 volunteers and 670 special police officials will be deployed across the province for the security of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) celebrations," said Punjab Additional IG Operations Inam Ghani.

"A total of 62,274 officers and officials will be deputed for the security of 1,585 Mehfil-e-Milad and 2,363 processions across Punjab. Among them are 404 gazetted officers, 923 inspectors, 2,734 sub-inspectors, 5,058 ASIs 4,081 head constables, 4,0451 constables, 7,953 police volunteers and 670 special police officials. Separately, 187 walkthrough gates, 8,344 metal detectors and 2,654 CCTV cameras will also be installed for the security of sensitive processions and Mehfil-e-Milad," the AIG said this while briefing the Punjab IGP during a video-link conference of RPOs and DPOs at the central police office (CPO) on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the IGP directed to ensure security of sensitive processions and Mahafil of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) by utilizing all available resources and all the RPOs and DPOs should personally monitor security and traffic arrangements so that public can participate in the celebrations without any fear.

He said that special security arrangements should be ensured for the minority worship places on the route of central processions of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

"CCTV cameras, metal detectors and walkthrough gates must be used for the security of processions in sensitive districts and search, sweep and combing operations must be geared up in the vicinity of important mosques, shrines, markets and religious places," he added.
