Islamabad is likely to receive a widespread rain-thunderstorm on Thursday while the country's mountainous snowfall wand plains hailstorm, the Met Office on Wednesday.

It said that a widespread rain-thunderstorm with heavy falls at a few places is expected in districts of upper Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad, while scattered falls in districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and central Punjab. Snowfall is likely over high mountains and hailstorm in plains in the next 24 hours.

In the past 24 hours: Scattered rain-thunderstorm hit Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Peshawar, Mardan, D. I. Khan, Malakand, Abbotabad, Chitral, Dir, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Maximum rainfall was recorded in Rawalakot as 85 mm, Murree 74 mm, Garhidupatta 61 mm, Muzaffarabad 56 mm, Kakul 48 mm, Kotli 45 and Balakot mm, each, Chaklala 39 mm, Upper Dir 29 mm, Malamjabba 24 mm, Mirkhani 21 mm, Islamabad Zero Point 20 mm, Saidpur 17 mm, Drosh 15 mm, Islamabad Airport 14 mm, Bokra 13 mm, Kalam and Attock 12 mm, each, Golra, Shamsabad and Chitral 11 mm, each, Lower Dir, Chakwal and Cherat 10 mm, each.

Lowest temperature was witnessed in Kalam as minus 1 degree Celsius, Skardu, Astore, Bagrote and Kalat 2, each. "A strong westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist in upper / central parts till Friday morning," the Met said.
