The Lahore High Court on Thursday asked the young doctors to end their protest and directed the government to address reservations of all stakeholders.

The strike was being observed by the young doctors against the promulgation of Pakistan Medical Commission Ordinance 2019

The counsel for Young Doctors Association Abid Saqi said if the government heard the objections/reservations of the doctors on the draft Act, they will call off the strike by 12pm and go back to work to earn livelihood and serve the humanity.

He argued that the consultation process with the stakeholders was necessary for the better enactment of the law as it will create sociological and economical impact on the citizens.

The court appointed Secretary for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department Momin Agha as convener of the draft Act committee and observed, "The committee will hold two days consultative workshop on November 22 and 23 on the draft Act by notifying all its members".

The court also included Young Doctors Association's (YDA) president/secretary with counsel, Pakistan Medical Commission vice president, secretary law & parliamentary affairs and executive secretary of College of Physician Surgeons of Pakistan as its new members and adjourned hearing in the petition against the strike of young doctors till December 02. The court directed the committee's convener, who was present in the room, to finalize the draft after the consultative workshop and submit a report before the court by next hearing.

The secretary health, however, assured the court that the government will not take any adverse action against the members of the Young Doctors Association (YDA) for their protest/strike prior to the Thursday's order by the court.
