PM Khan forms committee to address construction industry woes

In order to get the country’s construction sector out of turmoil, Prime Minister Imran Khan has set up a committee headed by Chairman Naya Pakistan Housing Authority (NPHA) Lieutenant General (R) Anwar Ali Haider.
As per reports, the committee has been directed to submit taxes, loans from banks and submit recommendations within 24 hours. The committee comprises of Chairman FBR, Governor State Bank of Pakistan, finance minister Punjab, and provincial chief secretaries. About 40 industries are associated with the construction sector, said PM.
From the construction sector, these industries will develop and provide jobs to the youth. Prime Minister Imran Khan said that with the promotion of construction sector, the main project of construction of 5 million houses will be completed.

The objectives of The Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority Bill, 2019 include; the Authority shall (i) identify immovable properties and projects suitable for the development of schemes, (ii) recommend to the federal government to provide or procure immovable property or a project through any means permissible under law, (iii) prescribe transparent criteria and procedure for registration, membership, possession, transfer and cancellation of immovable property in a scheme, and (iv) facilitate the low-income segment for availing housing.
