‘Azadi March’: JUI-F meeting fails to decide implementation on ‘Plan B’
- JUI-F leaders asked Fazlur Rehman to give them time to consider proposals on the protest march.
- The meeting discussed arrangements of the ‘Azadi March’ and ‘non-serious’ behaviour of the government to resolve the matter.
- The next meeting of JUI-F leaders will now be held on Tuesday (November 12).
(Karachi) The meeting of JUI-F provincial leaders, under the leadership of Maulana Fazlur Rehman, failed to take a decision over measures and implementation of the party’s ‘Plan B’ with regards to the ‘Azadi March’ on Monday, local media reported. The JUI-F's 'Plan B' includes blocking highways, trade links and shutter down strike.
The meeting was held at Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence in Islamabad.
During the meeting, the JUI-F leaders asked Fazlur Rehman to give them time to consider the proposals put forward regarding the party’s future measures on the march.
The meeting also discussed the arrangements of the ‘Azadi March’ and the ‘non-serious’ behaviour of the government to resolve the matter.
The next meeting of JUI-F leaders will now be held on Tuesday (November 12) after 2pm.
Fazlur Rehman has been sticking to his demand of PM’s resignation and holding new elections in the country.
The protesters at the march braved harsh weather conditions, while there were reports of some casualties during the sit-in.
Several meetings have been held between the government and opposition parties but to no avail. Prime Minister Imran Khan has made it clear in his speeches that the opposition’s demand for resignation is unjustified and could not be accepted at any cost.
The government team, led by Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak, and opposition’s Rehbar Committee have so far failed to reach a conclusive decision on the ‘Azadi March’ and the deadlock continues.
Besides, several meetings were also held between Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Fazlur Rehman but negotiations between them could not succeed.
