The National Assembly is likely to hold voting on the no-confidence motion submitted by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) against Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri on Friday (November 15). According to sources, the voting would presumably be held on Friday. It is pertinent to mention here that the opposition possesses support of 155 parliamentarians whereas the government and its allies comprise 184 members. Secret balloting would be held for voting process. The opposition party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) submitted a motion of no-confidence on Friday (November 8) against Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri to the secretary Notational Assembly. The motion for resolution of no-confidence has been submitted under Rule 12 (removal of the speaker or the deputy speaker) of the Rules and Procedure and Conduct of Business, 2007 and Article 53(7)(c) of the Constitution. According to Article 53 (7) (c) of the Constitution, "The office of Speaker or Deputy Speaker shall become vacant if: he is removed from office by a resolution of the Assembly, of which not less than seven days' notice has been given and which is passed by the votes of the majority of the total membership of the Assembly."

The motion for the no-confidence resolution was submitted by PML-N MNAs Khawaja Asif, Khurram Dastagir, Mohsin Nawaz Ranjha, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, and Muhammad Sajjad. The PML-N members submitted the motion day after the Deputy Speaker passed 11 ordinances in haste and no time was given to the members of the house to debate on them. The resolution said that Qasim Suri violated the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business and lost the confidence of National Assembly's majority. The Deputy Speaker is accused of biased behavior. According to Rule 12 (2) of the procedure of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, "The motion for leave to move the resolution shall be entered in the name of the member concerned in the Orders of the Day for the first working day after the expiry of seven days from the date of the receipt of the notice under sub-rule (i). "(3) No other item shall be included in the Orders of the Day for the day fixed for a motion for leave to move a resolution under sub-rule (2). "(4) The Speaker or Deputy Speaker shall not preside at a sitting of the Assembly when a resolution for his removal from office."
