Jamiat Ulema-Islam-Fazl Emir Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Tuesday announced that "Plan B" of his anti-government sit-in will be effective from November 13 (today) and the venue of protesters will also be shifted to some other place from its current venue at sector H-9.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of 'Azadi March' protest, which entered its 13th day, he said that provincial organizers of the party will share the details of the march's 'plan B', which will start from today [Wednesday] as the sit-in protesters will also be asked to shift to some other place.
The sources within the JUI-F said the party plans to block various roads and highways in the country. It will also call for shutter-down strikes to pressurize the government, they added.
Rehman who did not divulge the details of 'plan B', said: "This sit-in will continue, and with this we're going towards Plan B, and the details where to go and what we should do, will be shared by the provincial organizers of the party."
The cleric who has been sitting in federal capital along with thousands of his supporters since October 31, asked his supporters to fully participate in the plan, saying the whole country has realized that their mandate was stolen by no one lese but the party which has been "imposed" on them.
"I will be with you on the ground like a soldier in plan B. We won't go back to our homes, cities or villages. Those who are sitting at homes should also come out and participate in plan B," he maintained.
Criticizing the government, he said that after the 2018 general elections there were two narratives, the one of the rulers and the other of people who are protesting against polls rigging and the latter prevailed and this is the reason, the people from all segments of society including lawyers, teachers, media, traders, industrialists and political parties backed the sit-in.
"This government has lost its writ. Our movement didn't start from October 27; it started from Nov 5 last from Karachi when we held a 'million march' and now this march will be the last nail in the coffin of the rulers," he added.
He held the incumbent government responsible for prevailing economic crisis in the country and said that rising inflation has made people's lives miserable, adding that the irony is that the adviser to the prime minister has no idea about the price of tomatoes.
He reiterated that his party has reached near accomplishment of the goal, adding, "You have achieved a lot through this sit-in - you exposed a systematic rigging and the rulers have no option but to accept that elections were not free and fair."
"We are near accomplishment of our goal which is to send packing the government home. So let's give another push to the already cracked walls," he declared.
Rehman told his supporters that the 'sinking boat' of the economy needs their support, for which they have to struggle a bit more in order to restore democratic norms and supremacy of the Constitution in the country.
He said that he was grateful to all opposition parties especially Mehmood Khan Achakzai as they stood by him throughout, adding that thanks to PPP, ANP, NP, JWP and PPP as well as they who do not come out but fully extended their support.
"I want to tell those [PTI] to give details of Rs 70 billion which they claim of earning through sewing machine business along with the share which they got through foreign funding from the Abraj Group which is facing an inquiry in Rs 60-70 billion fraud in the US," he added.
