ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Social Sector, Shahnaz Wazir Ali on Monday said the government was making all-out efforts for the complete eradication of the polio disease from the country and was utilizing all available resources for the purpose.
As many as 1,344 mobile teams comprising officials of district health department, education department, teaching hospitals were visiting door to door to administer anti-polio drops, she said.
She said that special counters had been established at public parks, railway stations, bus stands, wagon stands, airport and other transit points to administer anti-polio drops to the children so that no child up to the age of five years could remain unattended during the campaign which started on Monday.
Talking to Pakistan Television (PTV), she said that launching polio campaign in all parts of the country was a big effort of the government.
She said, "We can achieve better results by deputing strong teams in all parts of the country region to provide polio drops to the children of up to five years of age."
National Focal Person of Polio, Shahnaz Wazir Ali said that some elements having vested interests were disseminating the false stories about the polio vaccination programme.
She urged the parents and members of the civil society to avoid listening such fabricated stories.
She admitted that some cases of polio surfaced in some parts of the country.
