(Karachi) The Lahore High Court has sought comments from the federal government over removing Nawaz Sharif’s name from the Exit Control List.

The LHC issued the order while hearing a petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on removing Nawaz sharif’s name from the ECL. The bench, headed by Justice Baqir Ali Najfi, was hearing the case.

During the proceedings, the legal team representing the state raised objection over the petition filed by the PML-N. They told the court that as Nawaz Sharif has been released from jail, he should have filed the petition himself.

After hearing arguments, the court adjourned the hearing till November 15.

Earlier, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif announced of the party's plan to approach the Lahore High Court (LHC) to seek Nawaz Sharif's removal from the Exit Control List (ECL).

The president said that the party has rejected government's conditional offer for Nawaz to travel abroad. He further said that the government by asking the PML-N to submit indemnity bonds to secure permission for Nawaz to travel abroad was in fact demanding ransom.

He further said that when the LHC had passed its judgement that Nawaz be allowed to travel wherever, what was the use of government's condition on asking for indemnity bonds. He said while the whole nation is worried about Nawaz's health, the government is only concerned about politics. “Nawaz Sharif's health has been turned into a shuttlecock," he said.
