Light rain in the city resulted in a drop in the hazardousness of the air quality on Thursday. Various parts of the city including Abbot Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Gari Shahu and other areas registered spells of light rain in the second half of the day.
It may be noted that the air quality index had registered rise on Wednesday to the alarming level. However, the Director-General Environment Protection Tanveer Ahmed Warraich challenged the data, saying that the public should rely upon the official data instead of looking for the data released by the private sector entities. He said the department has installed equipment to gauge air quality index both at the Jail Road and Wagha border.
Meanwhile, the Punjab government has banned outdoor activities in schools throughout the province. The medical experts have urged the citizens to use masks while staying out of the covered areas.
