Prices of most of the essential kitchen items kept on increasing during this week past as compared to previous week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday.

The survey observed not only essential kitchen items prices but prices of all daily use items have gone up, according to consumers.

Tomato price has crossed Rs1,000 per 5kg mark from Rs850 per 5kg in past week which in retail was being sold at Rs250-280 per kg against Rs190-200 per kg, onion price went up from Rs400 per 5kg to Rs450 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs100 per kg against Rs90 per kg and potato price went up from Rs250 per 5kg to Rs275 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs65 per kg against Rs60 per kg.

The price of Maash pulse reached Rs220 per kg against Rs200 per kg, Moong pulse price within past 10 days increased by Rs60 per kg from Rs140 per kg to Rs200 per kg, and Lobia price increased from Rs130-150 per kg to Rs200 per kg.

Similarly good quality ghee/cooking oil prices have reached Rs1,080 per 5kg/liter tin and spices prices crossed Rs400 per kg which a month ago were being sold at Rs250-350 per kg. Good quality Basmati rice was available at Rs175 per kg against Rs150 per kg, normal quality rice at Rs100 per kg against Rs90 per kg, and sugar was available at Rs78 per kg against Rs75 per kg.

Garlic was being sold at Rs950 per 5kg against Rs750 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs280 per kg against Rs240 per kg and Chinese garlic in wholesales market was being sold at Rs1,150 per 5kg which in retail market was available at Rs300 per kg. Ginger price went up from Rs1,350 per 5kg to Rs1,450 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs370 per kg against Rs340 per kg.

Egg price remained stable at Rs113 per dozen which in the retail market was being sold at Rs125 per kg, chicken price went further down from Rs5,800 per 40kg to Rs5,650 per 40kg which in the retail market was being sold at Rs155 per kg against Rs165 per kg while chicken meat was being sold at Rs250 per kg against Rs270 per kg.

Prices of various qualities of pumpkin went further down from Rs250-300 per 5kg to Rs200-250 per 5kg which were being sold in the range of Rs50-60 per kg against Rs60-75 per kg, and yam price went down from Rs450 per 5kg to Rs400 per 5kg which in the retail market was being sold at Rs100 per kg against Rs110 per kg. Okra price went up from Rs300 per 5kg to Rs400 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs100 per kg against Rs75 per kg and bitter gourd price went up from Rs300 per 5kg to Rs350 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs80-90 per kg against Rs70-75 per kg and cabbage price went down from Rs275 per 5kg to Rs225 per 5 kg which was being sold at Rs60 per kg against Rs75 per kg.

Peas price went further down from Rs600 per 5kg to Rs550 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs130 per kg against Rs150 per kg, beans price went up from Rs350 per 5kg to Rs400 per 5kg which in the retail market were being sold at Rs100 per kg against Rs80 per kg, prices of various qualities of tinda went up from Rs250-400 per 5kg to Rs275-440 per 5kg, which in the retail market were being sold in the range of Rs60-110 per kg against Rs55-100 per kg; and green chili price went up from Rs700 per 5kg to Rs750 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs180 per kg against Rs160 per kg. Turnip price went up from Rs200 per 5 kg to Rs250 per 5kg which in the retail market was being sold at Rs60 per kg against Rs45-50 per kg.

Capsicum price went down from Rs900 per 5kg to Rs700 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs160 per kg against Rs210-220 per kg; cucumber price went up from Rs200 per 5kg to Rs230 per kg which was being sold at Rs55-60 per kg against Rs50 per kg; cauliflower price went up from Rs200 per 5kg to Rs250 per 5kg which was being sold at Rs60 per kg against Rs50 per kg, and green zucchini (tori) price went up from Rs430 per 5kg to Rs450 per 5kg which in the retail market was being sold at Rs120 per kg against Rs110 per kg.

Overall fruit prices witnessed an increasing trend as golden apple was being sold at Rs120 per kg against Rs110 per kg, Gaja apple was available at Rs120 per kg against Rs100 per kg, white apple in the range of Rs60-90 per kg against Rs50-80, Pakistani Kala Kolo apple at Rs150 per kg against Rs140 per kg and Iranian Kala Kolo apple was available at Rs150 per kg.

Good quality local banana was being sold at Rs80 per dozen while normal quality banana was being sold in the range of Rs40-55 per dozen, and guava was available at Rs120 per kg against Rs80 per kg. Various brands of oranges were being sold at Rs110-140 per dozen, grapes were being sold in the range of Rs100-180 per kg, and pomegranates were being sold in the range of Rs130-250 per kg against Rs150-225 per kg.
