The outgoing Peshawar-based Iranian consul-General, Muhammad Baqir Beigi has said that meetings between the Prime Minister of Pakistan and senior leadership of Iran will usher positive results.

He expressed these views while talking to media during visit to Chinese Cultural Centre (China Window) here on Saturday. He also attended a reception arranged in his honour.

Those present on the occasion were included former senior vice president, Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAJCCI), Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi, Fruit Commission Agent, Amjad Saleem, Imtiaz Ahmad Ali, Dr Zakir Shah, Agastin Jacob, Haji Mukhtiar uddin and other people from different walks of life at large.

The Iranian Consul-General said that Pakistan and Iran are enjoying exemplary friendly relations and termed the recent visits of Pakistani leadership to his country as welcoming.

He said that during his four-year stay, he had played effective role for promotion of trade relations between Iran and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He was anxious that the business community of both countries should have relations with each other and Iranian investors make investment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will not only benefit Pakistan and China, rather neighbouring countries Iran and Afghanistan will also usher its benefits.

The Iranian Consul-General said that Iranian investors will also invest in the CPEC projects, particularly Rashakai Economic Zone and can play role in bringing improvement in the economy of Pakistan.

He declared his four-year stay in Peshawar as memorable in his diplomatic career and said that even in Iran his doors will always remained open for Pakistanis and particularly for the people, traders and industrialists of Peshawar.

On this occasion, the former senior vice president PAJCCI, Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi paid rich tributes to the services of Iranian Consular General and said that his memories will also remain alive in our hearts.
