Maulana Fazlur Rahman's protest seems to have withered on the vine. The maulana's 'Plan B' too has failed to attract a sufficient number of people to execute his plan of dislodging the government because no major opposition party is doing anything to help or support his objective.
The situation has provided Prime Minister Imran Khan a new opportunity to criticise opposition parties for what he termed "a circus on containers" aimed at escaping accountability. According to him, a circus was played on a container at Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (FUI-F) sit-in in Islamabad and the leadership of all opposition parties were present there to save their corruption.
He has also reportedly said that some of his cabinet members were afraid of the outcome of the sit-in but he gave courage to them. The prime minister, however, is required to understand that winning a battle and losing the war means that one has used so much in winning one battle that he or she has nothing left to fight on and win the war. He must not lose sight of the fact that his government has been unnerved by Maulana Fazlur Rahman's ongoing protest.
