KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information, Ms. Shazia Marri, has strongly condemned the Lahore bomb blast.
In a statement here on Tuesday, she termed the explosion "yet another attempt to destroy country's peace".
Shazia Marri expressed grief over the loss of precious lives in the blast and offered sympathies to bereaved families. She also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The minister said terrorism is a challenge for the democratic government. "Today the world at large needs to understand that Pakistan has paid and continues to pay the heaviest price in the struggle for peace."
She said Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto furthered the struggle for social justice, moderation and democracy in Pakistan, and gave the people strength to fight extremism and dictatorship.
"Our strength and progressive mindset remains committed to eliminate terrorism and make the future of Pakistan terror free," stated Shazia Marri.
While appreciating President Asif Zardari's role for strengthening democratic institutions, she said the Pakistan Peoples Party is determined to protect its democratic agenda from the extremist forces.
