The Karachi Port handled 173,892 tonnes of cargo comprising 122,603 tonnes of import cargo and 51,289 tonnes of export cargo including 7,115 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargos of 122,603 tonnes comprised of 48,595 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,935 tonnes of general cargo; 21,123 tonnes of bulk cargo and 45,950 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 51,289 tonnes comprised of 47,664 tonnes of containerised cargo and 3,625 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 7,115 containers comprising of 3,410 containers import and 3,705 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,104 of 20's and 1,068 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 84 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,065 of 20's and 906 of 40's loaded containers while 374 of 20's and 227 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Diaporos, Botany Bay and Ogino Park carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. Smiley Lady, Charlotte Schulte, Wan Hai-611, Chem Peace, Liana and Serena R carrying containers, oil tankers and rock phosphate respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 178,139 tonnes comprising 157,168 tonnes of import cargo and 20,971 tonnes of export cargo including 2,328 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 157,168 tonnes includes 58,183 tonnes of coal; 30,910 tonnes of LNG; 29,071 tonnes of diesel oil; 1,100 tonnes of palm oil; 5,585 tonnes of soyabean and 32,319 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 20,971 tonnes includes 9,058 tonnes of project cargo and 11,913 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,328 containers comprising of 1,701 containers import and 627 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were three ships namely IVS Phoenix, Onaiza and Khairpore carrying coal, LPG and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely Maersk Denver carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon and one ship namely Tomson Gas carrying LPG is expected to sail on the same day in night hours.

A total number of twelve ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, soyabean, LPG, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as four vessels viz. Sirocco, Weihe, Shalamar and Nord Nepton carrying soyabean, condensate and mogas respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There was one ship viz. MOL Globe carrying containers expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely MOL Globe carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday, while three more ships namely Nasia, OOCL Atlanta and Hugo Schulte carrying containers are due to arrive on Thursday.
