Government urged to take pragmatic measures to restore investors' confidence
President of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Engr Maqsood Anwar Pervaiz has urged the government to take pragmatic measures to give boost industrialization and restore confidence of investors.
SCCI president noted the KP is lucrative destination for investors, however, investment has not gained momentum 'post-war' and terrorism scenario in the province due to lack of building investors' confidence and inadequate facilities for them. He said peace is vital for sustainable economic growth and development.
Engr Maqsood Pervaiz was talking to a delegation of Emirates Airline, comprised on Sale Manager Commercial Operations Mohammad Ali Zahid, Cargo Manager Ejaz Ahmad, Faraz and Adil Salauddin at the chamber house here on Wednesday. Shahid Hussain, Senior Vice President and Abdul Jalil Jan, Vice President of the SCCI were also present in the meeting.
'There is unique opportunities for investors to make investment in ‘hydro-power generation, mine and mineral, tourism and other potential sectors' SCCI chief observed. However, he said the government should provide facilities and incentives to attract investment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, besides to restore confidence of investors after revival of peace in the province.
He stressed the need of serious efforts to hold Annual Gems and Jewelry exhibition in KP. He observed that Pakistani carpet is famous in all over the world, but the carpet industry was affected by unfavourable conditions in the province and asked the government to take serious steps to revive the indigenous carpet industry in KP.
SCCI chief hailed the provincial government for provision of electricity to Gadoon Amazi Industrial Estate at wheeling charges, which could not only boost industrialization but it would also generate employment opportunities in the province.
Maqsood Pervaiz said the chamber had presented roadmap to provincial government for revival sick and terrorism-affected industries in the province. He appreciated the government initiatives like, ease of doing business and uplift to tourism, investment in potential sectors.
However, he said the KP government should also take serious steps for revival of gems and jewelry, marble, mines and minerals and carpet sectors.
