Nayza All Pakistan Open Tennis Championship starts tomorrow
The Nayza All Pakistan Open Tennis Championship 2019 will explode into action here at the Punjab Tennis Academy Bagh-e-Jinnah from Saturday (November 23), in which top tennis players of the country will show their prowess and vie for the top honours.
This was announced by the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association (PLTA) Secretary Rashid Malik at a press conference held here at the National Hockey Stadium on Thursday. Other notables present on the occasion were Sports Board Punjab (SBP) Vice Chairman Rao Zahid Qayyum and Nayza Assistant Manager Marketing Malik Nauman.
Malik said, "This event provides excellent opportunities to our Davis Cup and South Asian Games-bound national tennis players, to prepare them well for the upcoming mega international events. Hopefully, the event will prove to be a challenging and thrilling one, the winners will pocket the highest prize money of their tennis careers."
The PLTA Secretary, who is also former Davis Cupper, said that is a great honour for the PLTA that is going to be honoured in the next PTF Annual General Meeting for organising the record number of tennis tournaments this year. "Like previous years, we succeeded in conducting record number of tennis events this year as well. The basic purpose of conducting such record number of events is to promote tennis at grassroots level and flourish the game in every corner of the country," he said.
Malik also lauded the efforts of Sports Board Punjab and its high-ups including Vice Chairman Rao Zahid Qayyum and DG Adnan Arshad Aulakh as well as the Secretary Sports for their all-out cooperation for the betterment of the game across the province.
He said that the prestigious tournament will be conducted in men's singles and ladies singles, mixed doubles and boys and girls events. "I will also perform the duty of Director Tournament while Faheem Siddiqui will be Tournament Referee. The opening ceremony of the event will take place on Saturday at 3:00 pm while the final will be held on November 28 at 2:00 pm.
Sharing his views, Nayza Assistant Manager Marketing Malik Nauman said: "Nayza is a brand of Rafum Group, which has a major presence in the fashion footwear and apparel with renowned brands such as Borjan, Mocciani and Caanchi & Lugari. Rafum Group actively promotes sports in Pakistan, especially tennis."
